Thu, 28 Jan 2010 17:54:42 -0800 What's your age? http://bitethedust.posterous.com/whats-your-age http://bitethedust.posterous.com/whats-your-age

Three mischievous old Grannies were sitting on  a bench outside a nursing home when an old Grandpa walked by.
One of the old Grandmas yelled out saying, "we bet we can tell exactly how old you are."
The old man said,  "there is no way you can guess it, you old fools."
One of the old Grandmas said, "sure we can!  Just drop your pants and under shorts and we can tell your exact age."
Embarrassed just a little, but anxious to prove they couldn't do it, he dropped his drawers.
The Grandmas asked him to first turn around a couple of times and to jump up and down several times.
Then they all piped up and said,  "you're 82 years old!"
Standing with his pants down around his ankles,  the old gent asked,
"How in the world did you guess?"
Slapping their knees and grinning from ear to ear,  the three old ladies happily yelled in unison....

"We were at your birthday party yesterday!"

Sat, 23 Jan 2010 17:27:02 -0800 ID10T http://bitethedust.posterous.com/id10t http://bitethedust.posterous.com/id10t

I was having trouble with my computer.

So I called Eric, the 11 year old next door, whose bedroom looks like Mission Control and asked him to come over. Eric clicked a couple of buttons and solved the problem.

As he was walking away, I called after him, 'So, what was wrong?

He replied, 'It was an ID ten T error.'

I didn't want to appear stupid, but nonetheless inquired, 'An, ID ten T error? What's that? In case I need to fix it again.'

Eric grinned.... 'Haven't you ever heard of an ID ten T error before?

'No,' I replied. 'Write it down,' he said, 'and I think you'll figure it out.'

So I wrote down:

ID10T

I used to like Eric, the little bastard

Wed, 13 Jan 2010 00:38:00 -0800 International Australia Day http://bitethedust.posterous.com/international-australia-day http://bitethedust.posterous.com/international-australia-day

Australia's first 'Lambassador', Sam Kekovich worried about a pandemic that threatens the world as we know it – un-Australianism - is to plead with the United Nations to make January 26th International Australia Day. This and eating more lamb chops will make the world more Australian, and thus a happier place

Heidi Allen put me on to this ‘Playing For Change’ mob.

Their aim is to bring the world together through music using largely unrecognised musicians from different countries. They also have a foundation to: “dedicated to connecting the world through music by providing resources (including, but not limited to facilities, supplies, and educational programs) to musicians and their communities around the world.”

I love the music. Initially they roamed the world recording different artists and merging them together in collaborations followed by tours of the musicians through the USA and Europe. Please read more about them.

And here is a couple of pieces.

and this second piece has a couple of more well known musos.

I urge you to click through and read about those who participated in each song and to explore their website.

Problems can be avoided if you take HAVIDOL only when you are able to immediately benefit from its effects. To fully benefit from HAVIDOL patients are encouraged to engage in activities requiring exceptional mental, motor, and consumptive coordination. HAVIDOL is not for you if you have abruptly stopped using alcohol or sedatives. Havidol should be taken indefinitely. Side effects may include mood changes, muscle strain, extraordinary thinking, dermal gloss, impulsivity induced consumption, excessive salivation, hair growth, markedly delayed sexual climax, inter-species communication, taste perversion, terminal smile, and oral inflammation. Very rarely users may experience a need to change physicians.

Sun, 20 Sep 2009 18:17:06 -0700 Are dogs ONLY man's best friend? http://bitethedust.posterous.com/are-dogs-only-mans-best-friend http://bitethedust.posterous.com/are-dogs-only-mans-best-friend

This arrived on my email today. I’d love to know who these belong to.

Suryia and Roscoe - Best Of Friends

Where you lead, I will follow...best friends Suryia the orangutan and Roscoe the Blue Tick hound.

Doggy paddle's the order of the day here for the couple who live at the Tigers sanctuary in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

Suryia and Roscoe spend hours together every day - they're particularly keen on swimming.

The two mates see the funny side of most things.

There's always time to chill.

For once, Roscoe's letting it all hang out.

The three-year-old orangutan goes everywhere with Roscoe.

A dog's not just a man's best friend, he's an orang-utan’s too.

Thu, 03 Sep 2009 09:48:42 -0700 A Drought in the Red Centre - 7 million years ago http://bitethedust.posterous.com/a-drought-in-the-red-centre-7-million-years-a http://bitethedust.posterous.com/a-drought-in-the-red-centre-7-million-years-a

Alcoota Station near Alice Springs has a huge number of fossils in one site. Very few fossils are complete.

What seems to have happened is a drought hit 7 million years ago. The dinosaurs ran out of herbage to graze on. Not wanting to leave their shrinking waterhole they died en masse when the water ran out. Their bodies fell into the wet clay and decomposed leaving behind bones that broke as the clay dried.

Some time later, massive floods washed these bones down into a flood plain where they have been excavated for the last twenty five years. Several new species have been discovered.

Thu, 27 Aug 2009 03:11:00 -0700 The Use of Viagra in Dentistry http://bitethedust.posterous.com/the-use-of-viagra-in-dentistry http://bitethedust.posterous.com/the-use-of-viagra-in-dentistry

The dentist pulls out a numbing needle to give the man a shot.

'No way! No needles. I hate needles' the patient said.

The dentist starts to hook up the nitrous oxide and the man objects.

'I can't do the gas thing The thought of having the gas mask on is Suffocating me!'

The dentist then asks the patient if he has any objection to taking a Pill.

'No objection,' the patient says. 'I'm fine with pills.'

The dentist then returns and says, 'Here's a Viagra tablet.'

The patient says, 'Wow! I didn't know Viagra worked as a pain killer!'

It doesn't' said the dentist, 'but it's going to give you something to hold on to when I pull your tooth.

Peter Allen once wrote a song titled  " I Still Call Australia Home". It has become the signature song for Qantas. It has appeared in various advertising campaigns over the last 12 or so years. Here are some of them (The year dates are approximate)

2009

The latest ad in the campaign opens with Tyus Arndt, from the Gondwana National Indigenous Children’s Choir singing the first verse in a Torres Straits language, Kala Lagaw. The second verse, in English, includes choristers from the National Boys Choir , Australian Girls Choir and the Gondwana National Indigenous Children's Choir.

2004 Directors Cut

2000?

1998

This advertisement was first seen during the 1998 Commonwealth Games and also at the 1999 Superbowl. It features the Australian Girls Choir and National Boys Choir. It was the most expensive Australian ad ever made (USD 3 million).

1997

This 3 minute ad features some of Australia’s best including Kate Cerebrano, Jack Jones, James Blundell and trumpeter James Morrison.

Humour

The Chaser doing what they do best performed their own version commenting on Qantas’s overseas outsourcing of jobs.

And just for something different here is ‘I am Australian’ by The Seekers
